Xbox Live

Just figured I would give out my name on xbox live should anyone want to send me a friend invite. My name is Shadow Demon 01. I probably wont be on this weekend, but next week you will probably find me playing some gears of war 2. So if you have Gears 2 send me an invite.

Monday 3, 2008

We started off class by going over Aaron and Lacy's logs. Professor McArdle then brought up the Black Hair memoir. He then split the class into 4 groups and gave each group a question to answer about the memoir. After the groups had plenty of time going over their questions we came back together to form the circle of love and started going over each groups question. During this Professor McArdle went off on a bunny trail that involved sport psychologists and selling Ohio to Canada. 

Wednesday 5, 2008

Started the class off looking at James's log. We then started talking about the in class essay. Professor McArdle gave us a very interesting story of when he went to school and asked a lot of  questions about how God could have been wrong because Giraffe's necks were to tall and that the trees should have just been shorter. Professor McArdle then want back to our in class essays and talked about how he didn't want a summary of the paper. He wants our thoughts and ideas on the subject. 

Friday 7, 2008

Today was a workshop day. We were showed some examples of "your turn" and "letter to the editor" articles on the Daily News website. We then switched back to talking about the in class essays. Had another discussion about summarizing in papers and how that is not what he wants from us. He wants our thoughts and ideas. We were then given back our other two in class essays. We continued the rest of the period going over our essays deciding on which to choose for our portfolio. Professor McArdle was also answering any questions we had on our papers during this time. Near the end of class the importance of portfolios were discussed. Professor McArdle also added he would NOT be happy if we resubmitted an unrevised essay for our portfolio. 

Which to choose

Thinking about getting either Fable 2 or Fallout 3 this weekend or next week. I am going to look at some of the reviews and see which I think is better. Right now I'm leaning more towards Fable 2, but I do like the setting of post apocalypse like Fallout 3 has.

University Core Curriculum Goals

1. Pretty much explains itself. Comfortable in what it is saying and that I am taking what I am learning in the class and it is helping me to be able to get my ideas across when writing and even speaking. 

2. I believe I am communicating at my appropriate level. However my grammar is pretty bad for a college level.

3. I am confidant I am doing this and I am doing this for others in the class.

4. I do not believe I am doing this well. Not to informed on cultural heritage and don't know too much history on events that may be put in front of me.

5. I am comfortable with this. Working with others to solve large problems is key. One can not do it alone.

6. I am doing this and feel that trying to do something other than this will not be as effective. When doing assignments in class I try to stick to my strong points.

Course Content & Format

1. I understand this well and feel confident that I understanding this.

2. Not to sure about this one. The rhetorical situation I don't think I understand what it means although I may know what to look for in paper.

3. Somewhat comfortable with this. Need to work on prewriting and revising a little more. 

4. Feel comfortable with this. I don't think however I am reaching this goal entirely. I need to work more on the actual process of revising.

5. Pretty confident in this. Once I understand what I'm writing about and what the issues are I can start writing a response to it.

6. Working on these. I understand all the papers and what they want me to do.

7. Somewhat understand what it is asking for, but also not sure exactly what it is aksing for.

English 101

1. I believe I understand this well. In order to write effectively one needs to know what they are writing or reading I am pretty comfortable with this. Once i see what is going on I can then start working on the paper 

2. The verbal portion I think I understand, but for the visual I don't as much. Maybe try and visualize what the writer is trying to get across?

3. This makes sense and I feel pretty comfortable with it. Once you have and idea of what you are writing or reading that has to match the audience.

4. This like the others are very important and I feel I understand them all. I am confident I know how they connect.

5. I don't do this very much. I believe this is one major weak point of mine and I need to work on it. I think i can easily do it, but I don't really enjoy writing in the first place. Possible solution is to find a motivation to work on going back and fix old papers.

6. I understand this well and am somewhat comfortable to find primary research for the situation. I do need to work on my research methods though.

7. I think i am doing ok in this. I try to work well with groups that  I am assigned and try to get the task assigned done.

8. Not to sure about this one. I think I understand it. Find out what the subject is and explore the possibilities of that subject. 

9. Another weak point of mine. Trying to do my best to keep motivated and working on papers. Don't like to go back and revisit papers even though it can only help them improve.
